Club History The club originally started out as SANTOS football club back in 1987 and only had three teams. However over the years new age groups were started up. In 1989 the club merged with the local Kent League side Chatham Town. This was done to provide a feeder for the Kent league side. In 1991 the youth side of the club decided to pull away from Chatham Town and merge with a Sunday league side called Riverside. This was the local side which consisted of employees from Lucas CAV and they played down at Shorts Way along the Rochester Esplanade. This would give the youth side a route into Men's football. It was decided that the newly formed club would be called Chatham Riverside. Due to a fire in the club house at Shorts Way in 1998 the Men's team moved to play on a council pitch and the youth side remained. At the end of season 2000-2001 it was decided to move the youth sides from Shorts Way, due to renting issues. The Youth teams play at Thomas Aveling School. The Men have 1 team in the Medway Messenger Sunday Football League and the youth side currently has 6 teams in the Medway News Youth League for season 2011-2012, U8, U9,U12,U13,U15, and U16 age groups. In December 2008 the club achieved Charter Standard status The club is based in the Medway Towns area of Kent. |
